Elegy of the Avant-garde

The work of Zdenek Rykr harkens back to Prague between the wars, a time of crosscurrents, experimentation and driving spirit. Rykr was one of the most important graphic designers, painters and designers of the period. His work is rarely exhibited but fortunately the curators of the city's most evocative Gothic gallery space have done their best to make up for that omission with a thorough look at its contexts and the way it shaped the look of a new democracy.
