Kyogen Comedy Theatre
Posted by hayden hunter at 12:14 PM 0 comments
The apparently impenetrable mysteries of Kyogen comedy theatre can be penetrated at this ten-day course which teaches students how to appreciate the art of Japanese theatre through performance. Over the ten days, would-be actors are taken through their paces by Manojo Nomura, a leading Kabuki actor and a Living National Treasure - the highest accolade Japan can bestow on an artist. The course culminates in a student performance of a play called 'Tojin Zumo', the tale of a lone Japanese sumo wrestler stranded in China, at the National Noh Theatre of Japan.
