Rocket Clip Festival
Posted by hayden hunter at 11:14 AM 0 comments
Local boys Arling & Cameron's globally acclaimed 'Music for Imaginary Films' album was probably one of the motives behind this evening-long festival. Artists, film-makers and video-artists were asked to make a short film using a piece of original soundtrack from a motion picture. Tonight will see the screening of the best - including pieces which use the evocative sounds from such films as 'Apocalypse Now', 'Once Upon a Time in the West' and 'Trainspotting'.

The Return of Filmstudio
Posted by hayden hunter at 11:14 AM 0 comments
The closure of the independent Filmstudio 15 years ago was a great loss. Fortunately for the city's aficionados of celluloid, this phoenix of a film club has risen from the ashes, with two new screens and a programme which promotes new international talents and films screened in the original language. In these early months there is also a worthy retrospective of classic Italian cinema, from De Sica and Rossellini to Visconti and Antonioni.
